WorkersFirst Code of Conduct

All WorkersFirst team members must comply with the Code of Conduct while observing the institution’s policies and procedures and seek to avoid even the appearance of improper behaviour.

WorkersFirst team members must maintain the confidentiality of information entrusted to them by the institution/home.

  • Always be mindful that you are representing SEIU Healthcare and WorkersFirst. Your conduct and behaviour impacts other SEIU Healthcare members and WorkersFirst team members.

  • Always arrive on time for your shift. Be on your assigned floor.

  • If you are running late, it is your responsibility to call the facility and let them know.

  • If you cancel a shift without a valid reason (medical emergency, covid exposure, car breakdown etc.) you may forfeit your ability to access future shifts.

  • Always wear appropriate attire and footwear at all shifts.

  • Report to the person in charge on your assigned unit.

  • It is your responsibility to provide your own meals.

  • Be respectful of both residents and staff. WorkersFirst has zero tolerance towards harassment and discrimination.

  • Absolutely no phone usage while on the work floor or on the unit.

  • If you have any issues while working, please contact your WorkersFirst administrator immediately. (this is the only exception for phone usage on shift)

  • Always inform the unit lead if you must leave the unit outside of assigned breaks.

  • Be prepared to be re-assigned as per the institution’s needs (e.g. reassignment to a different floor, to different residents etc.).

  • You must complete the full shift.  No arriving late nor leaving early except where you have prior approval.

  • Always observe the Institution’s Code of Conduct. (e.g. Scent free policy, etc.)

  • WorkersFirst Team members must comply with the Residents Bill of Rights.

  • It is against WorkersFirst Code of Conduct to accept personal gifts while on assignment.

  • You must observe the institution’s Health and Safety Policies and you have the responsibility to report all incidents to the institution and WorkersFirst in a timely manner.
